Every photograph tells a story, but these two self-portrait projects were created to feel like scenes from films that were never made. Vinyl Feels and Gettin' Outta Dodge explore mood, nostalgia and the quiet moments in between life's big events. Both simple stories about escaping—one through music, the other by hitting the open road. Join me as I take you behind the scenes to reveal how these cinematic images were created—from lighting and lenses to a little movie magic.

Every now and then a location, a subject and a simple idea come together at exactly the right time.

This shoot with Nathan began with a conversation between two old neighbours and friends who shared an appreciation for the cinematic landscapes of Yellowstone and Ransom Canyon. We weren't interested in recreating the American West—we wanted to capture its spirit here in Queensland, proving that Australia's own landscapes can be just as dramatic, rugged and timeless.

With the towering pine plantations of Wild Horse Mountain as our backdrop and the Glass House Mountains slowly emerging as the sun dipped below the horizon, we spent the evening chasing light rather than racing against it. Add my 1960 Pontiac Bonneville into the mix, and the ingredients for a modern Western were all there.

The result is a series of images that come from letting a concept unfold naturally. It's also a reminder that some of the best photographs aren't made in elaborate studios—they're found on dusty roads, under an open sky, with good company and the patience to wait for that fleeting moment when everything falls into place.

More Than a Photograph

Behind every great photograph is a story waiting to be told.

Over the years I've been fortunate enough to meet some truly remarkable people through my camera. They're artists, collectors, musicians, makers, dreamers and storytellers. They're the people who breathe life into the classic car and vintage communities—not simply through what they wear or drive, but through their passion, creativity and generosity.

This new interview series is my way of sharing those stories.

Who better to begin with than someone I've had the privilege of photographing for the past six years?

Lou Lou Fontana has become a familiar face within South-East Queensland's pinup scene, but there's far more to her than perfectly styled hair, immaculate vintage fashion and a camera-ready smile. Behind the glamour is a woman who has helped organise events, championed charities, supported newcomers to the community and built lasting friendships wherever she goes.

Throughout our many shoots together we've created everything from glamorous poolside socialites to mischievous Playboy Bunnies and old Hollywood-inspired characters. Somewhere along the way, photographer and model became friends—and that's exactly why this conversation feels less like an interview and more like catching up over a drink.
